Honorable Mention | PortraitAndrew Dye, Winston-Salem Journal Kedrick Flomo scored 2,275 points in his four years at North Forsyth, making him the highest scoring player in the school's 53 year history. He was awarded a scholarship to play at Murray State University. After playing behind Cameron Payne, a first-round NBA Draft pick, during his freshman season, Flomo was poised to step into a bigger role at Murray State. But two weeks into practice, Flomo was having trouble keeping up. On the morning of Nov. 2, Flomo went for an on-campus doctor’s visit, which eventually led him to a hospital in Murray. Early that afternoon, he was on an emergency flight to Vanderbilt University Hospital for surgery to repair a leaking valve in his heart. The surgery was successful but team doctors won't clear Flomo to play. Now he's remaking his life and planning on attending UNC-Wilmington in the fall.
